Skill Development and Govt. Led Schemes

Skill Development and Govt. led initiatives Overview

In a country with 950.2 million working-age people, only 487.9 million are in the labor force. By 2041, India's working-age population is expected to reach 59%, continuing to grow until 2055. As of June 2024, the unemployment rate in India rose to 9.2%, up from 7% in May 2024, with rural unemployment at 9.3%. Despite government efforts to improve employability, the industry must help bridge the skill gap. The government is putting all the right efforts towards improving the employability situation; however, it requires the support of the industry to overcome the huge skill-to-demand gap.

Challenges

Lack of Industry Linkages
There is huge void between what is taught in formal and vocational education vis-à-vis the skill expectation from the industry. Skill training institutes, ITI’s, and various training centers are yet to align the formal skill courses with the industry.

Solution: Our ongoing efforts to widen the network through industry linkages have helped companies and academia to come together. Today, uPhery has touched over 100+ industry partnerships nationwide and it is an upward number. The aim of such an outreach program is to bridge the gap between industry and academia.
